Are there any lighthouses to visit in Kentucky?

Being land-locked Kentucky isn't known for its abundance of lighthouses, however, there are some. If you enjoy lighthouse tours, check out these lighthouses you can visit in Kentucky:

  • Waterfront Plaza Towers, Louisville, KY: While these aren't functioning lighthouses, there are two atop the Waterfront Plaza Towers in Louisville, KY. They are paying tribute to the beacon that once stood atop the Galt House Hotel in the mid-1800s. The original was used to indicate to boat captains and airplane pilots that they were nearing the city. The hotel and the lighthouse burned down in 1865, but the two new lighthouses pay tribute to the iconic lighthouse of the past.
  • The Lighthouse Restaurant, Sulphur Well Historic District, KY: Even though there is no ocean for many miles in any direction, the Lighthouse Restaurant is a Kentucky icon and award-winning dining establishment. The restaurant was opened in 1968, but taken over and re-named in 1985. It is still a beacon of good food to this day.
