There are so many excellent restaurants that have come and gone throughout Kentucky. If you think back to your childhood or even earlier adulthood, perhaps you fondly remember a local dining spot that served the best breakfast or maybe the best milkshakes. But unfortunately, they are long gone. Well, if that restaurant for you happens to be the popular Druther’s, then you are in luck. The one remaining Druther’s Restaurant in the entire country is located in Campbellsville, Kentucky and you need to visit.
The story of this iconic Kentucky restaurant began back in 1963 with the very first Burger Queen in Middletown.
The restaurant became so popular, it eventually grew to 50 locations in Kentucky, Indiana, and Tennessee. In 1981, the owners decided to change the name to Druther's, partly to ensure guests knew they specialized in more than just burgers. Over time, each location was changed to a different restaurant (many became Dairy Queen), until there was just one remaining - the restaurant in Campbellsville that you can still visit today.

The slogan for this nostalgic eatery was, "I'd Ruther Go to Druther's Restaurant." Many still feel that way today.
The exterior and sign look the same, though the interior has changed a bit. There are whimsical murals on the walls and many tables to enjoy your meal. Their hours are a little strange - 2:30am to 7pm, but you can enjoy their famous breakfast at any time and they also have a drive thru!
The fried chicken is as good as you'll find anywhere and the breakfast isn't fancy, but it is perfectly done. The food is served on styrofoam plates, which adds to the nostalgia. You won't find a fine dining experience here, but you will find a classic, laid-back, friendly environment with memory-evoking food.

Thankfully, one piece of this historic restaurant remains, and it is right here in Kentucky.
Druther's was a favorite in the Bluegrass State, and even if the one in your town is now closed, find a reason to visit Campbellsville and enjoy your favorite meal at the last Druther's in America.
As the very last Druther’s, we hope they can stick around for decades to come! Is Druther’s one of your all time favorites? Do you miss your local location? Any other restaurants you miss? Share with us in the comments!
