Kentucky is a wonderful place to be if you appreciate the arts, including the unique craft of creating a beautiful quilt. Quilting is a beloved hobby of many in the Bluegrass State, and we have several places to see these pieces, purchase them, and learn how to make them ourselves. Located in historic downtown Burlington, Cabin Arts Quilt Shop is a charming destination that has everything you need, whether you are just learning how to sew or if you’re an award-winning quilt maker. This rather large quilting business is housed in two log cabins and its inventory, creations, and history are truly a sight to see.
Cabin Arts Quilt Shop, located in the heart of Burlington, celebrated its 25th-anniversary last year. This endearing shop began when the owner purchased a 1850s log home, completely restored it, and began to sell quilting supplies on the weekends.
The business quickly grew and this hidden gem became widely known, especially to those in the quilting world. Boone County, and Burlington especially, seems to be the perfect spot for this artistic and historic shop.
The massive inventory at this cabin quilt shop is quite impressive, considering they offer more than 5,000 bolts of fabric. The shop is also stocked with everything you need to get inspired, and to begin and finish a quilting project.
Each room of the cabin is filled to the brim with fabric, threads, books, patterns, and notions. You'll also find finished projects on display, some of which are for sale.
Even if you have no interest in learning how to make a quilt, anyone with an artistic eye will enjoy a visit to this shop. The owner and staff have lovingly organized it and its a beautiful place to see with your own eyes. Chances are, you'll leave with something, having been inspired to give this art a try.
Recently, a second log cabin was added to the business, which allowed for more space for inventory and classes. Customers now have a space to try out their budding or advanced talents.
Cabin Arts offers a wide array of classes for beginners to advanced quilters. These are held all year long and you can find the complete schedule here.
Cabin Arts Quilt Shop may not be a warehouse or massive multi-level building, but its large inventory and expanded space definitely make it one of the largest and best quilting destinations in the state. The shop is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., so the next time you're near Burlington, check out this charming and artistic cabin, which may just be the best quilt shop in Kentucky.
