Kentucky is a state that appreciates the classics, and of course, that includes cars. Home to many car-related attractions and events, the Bluegrass State seems to love the sound of an engine and a Sunday drive through the back roads. If you appreciate classic cars and love seeing many at once, then you must plan a trip to Somerset, Kentucky. Known as the “Car Cruise Capital of Kentucky,” this small town hosts Somernites Cruise multiple times a year. It’s an exciting and family-friendly event that is collectively the largest car show in Kentucky. A visit here is a unique experience and one that is a must for every car-loving Kentuckian.
You know you can expect to find a pretty impressive car show when a town is named the "Official Car Cruise Capital of Kentucky."
It says it on signs, which of course, makes it official, but it really is true. Somerset hosts Somernites Cruise on the 4th Saturday of every month, April through October.
The event is held rain or shine and actually begins a little earlier in the week as drivers arrive for special events before the big show.
Beginning Thursday evening, car enthusiasts and locals join together for meals and events that lead up to the massive show on Saturday. For a complete schedule of each weekend, click here.

On Friday night, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Somerset Mall, the cruise in has a festival atmosphere with plenty of family fun.
You'll be shocked to find that thousands of classic cars and trucks line the streets of downtown Somerset, which are shut down for the event. All makes and models are welcome at each event, but there are certain ones featured each month. You can see the monthly schedule here.
With seven chances throughout each year to attend, there really is no excuse to miss out on a visit to Somernites Cruise.
Show vehicles leave downtown and head to the six-lane US 27 for some real hot rod cruising. Spectators love this portion of the evening, so be sure to grab a seat and see all of these classic cars in action at this massive car show.
The Somernites Cruise events have been recognized nationally for their massive attendance and thousands of classic cars on display.
