The lake town of Eddyville is a popular destination for fun in the sun. The city has great access to Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake, and it's also home to Venture River Water Park - one of the best in the state.

If you want to extend your time in the area, consider camping in the grounds adjacent to the waterpark. The new area offers 40 RV sites and 10 primitive sites, as well as beautiful views and easy access to the park.

After a few hours at the waterpark, hop in the car and drive just a few minutes to the shores of Lake Barkley and Eddycreek Marina Resort. Here you can rent a variety of boats or simply relax and take in the lake views.

You'll surely be hungry from your adventures, so grab a bite to eat at Echo Charlie's, which is located right there at the marina. Sit outside and plan out the rest of your evening.

We recommend booking a half-day boat (do this ahead of time on busier weekends), kayak, or paddle board and getting out on the water. Lake Barkley is beautiful and massive, so you'll definitely want to get out and explore.

And the best way to end this water-filled adventure is with a famous lake sunset. Whether from a boat or just from the docks, take in the beauty of this area of Kentucky and then head to bed after what was surely an epic day of fun in the Bluegrass State.
