Kid Friendly Camping In Kentucky
What are the best kid friendly campgrounds in Kentucky?
Here are some of the best kid friendly campgrounds in Kentucky:
One of the best things about living in Kentucky is how family-friendly it is. You'll find amazing destinations all across the state well-suited for even the tiniest explores -- and that applies to our campgrounds, too. In addition to Renfro Valley KOA, some other kid-friendly campgrounds in Kentucky we enjoy are:
- Progress Park. We affectionally refer to Progress Park as the Disneyland of Kentucky campgrounds -- and after one visit, you'll understand why. Progress Park is a 12-acre oasis located less than 10 miles from Churchill Downs, the Kentucky Expo Center, and downtown Louisville. But you'd never know it, because it feels like its own little world. The campground has five vintage Airstreams, a bunkhouse, and two houses available for overnight rentals. Airstreams include full kitchens, bed linens and towels, Wi-Fi, smart TVs, bathrooms, and ultra-comfortable memory foam beds for the perfect night's sleep for the whole family. Speaking of which, the glampground overlooks a pristine, three-acre pond, so you can partake in a beloved Bluegrass pastime: kayaking! How delightful.
- Nolin Lake State Park. Picturesque Nolin Lake State Park, near Mammoth Cave, offers true camping experiences right by the lake. They have some primitive sites with breathtaking views but also offer RV sites. If you're looking for a quiet campground with an abundance of natural surroundings, check out Nolin State Park, and keep in mind that state park camping is always a wonderful option in Kentucky.
- Horse Cave KOA. If you're a child of the '80s or '90s, you likely grew up playing Oregon Trail. And if you ever dreamed of living out your very own Oregon Trail fantasy (minus the disease and dysentery, of course), there's a place in Kentucky where you can do just that. Horse Cave KOA is a popular campground, conveniently located near all of the fun to be had in this Kentucky town. The Horse Cave area is a great getaway destination for its various attractions, including Hidden River Cave. The campground offers RV spots and cabins for rent, as well as unique accommodations you simply won't find anywhere else: Conestoga wagons! The covered wagon campground at Horse Cave KOA is quite possibly the most unique campsite in Kentucky.
