I am somewhat a cliche'. I grew up running around barefoot on a farm in Kentucky.
I love writing, art, sunshine, all animals and my incredibly patient husband, who tolerates my "crazy animal lady" side.
The Land Between the Lakes is nothing but breathtaking beauty no matter where you go in the area. Kentucky is filled with jaw dropping scenery, but this place is special. The visitor center itself is located on 238 Visitor Center Drive in Golden Pond, and you can obtain lots of information there. However, there is easily a few weeks worth of exciting activities to keep anyone entertained.

There is history here, despite the lakes being man made. Some of the ancient trees would likely whisper exciting tales could they speak. There is even an 1850 farm located in Prior Hollow in the section of LBL located in Stewart TN.
Looking for a spot to take a nice quiet drive or walk? This would be a place to put on the top of the list. The shade of the trees makes some spots like twilight even on a sunny day. The lack of traffic allows us to absorb the environment without the taint of civilizations sounds. A drive is sweet, but a walk just really helps us get in touch with the quiet here.
There is nothing like spending a day or evening fishing anywhere in the area. Both lakes offer plenty of fish and some of the most jaw dropping scenery in the state. You can catch your own dinner here if you choose, or just bring a lunch.
From young deer and bison to wild turkey and other feathered friends, the Land Between the Lakes is overflowing with Mother Nature’s furry and feathered friends. Some people come just to sit and watch the bison and deer graze. There is always a beautiful variety of birds and water fowl to be seen as well.

You are surrounded by beauty here, no matter which part of the property you frequent. Both Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake have serene places to fish and absorb nature.
Kentucky sunsets are gorgeous all across the state, at Land Between the Lakes, they are magical. Watching a sunset here just takes us into another world. There is nothing like it.
Waking up at the crack of dawn is more a blessing than an annoyance when you are greeted with a sunrise like this one. Those who spend time at LBL get to see this glorious gift of golden rays more frequently than the rest of us. Aren’t they the lucky ones?
