I am somewhat a cliche'. I grew up running around barefoot on a farm in Kentucky.
I love writing, art, sunshine, all animals and my incredibly patient husband, who tolerates my "crazy animal lady" side.
Some see graveyards as serene places of quiet and peace and go there to study, relax, and visit their dead. Others don’t necessarily agree with that concept and see cemeteries as a haven for paranormal activity. It could be said that a final resting place may not always be a place of rest, especially if you’ve visited during odd hours. It isn’t unusual to hear tales of strange lights, bumps, and chatter in the night at some supposedly haunted cemeteries in Kentucky. Many a nonbeliever will explain away the possibilities with scientific or illogical explanations. However, not everyone is a skeptic… and not everything can be explained away. Would you be brave enough to visit any of these haunted graveyards in Kentucky?
On May 2nd, 1891, Octavia Hatcher was pronounced dead after several months of illness. Her husband buried her, but after several other people seemed to recover from a similar illness, they dug Octavia up. The grim discovery was that Octavia had been buried alive and awakened while in the ground. She frantically tried to get out, to no avail, and slowly suffocated. A marble replica of her is above her grave now, but her spirit is said to wander the Pikeville Cemetery on Cemetery Road.
The locals tell ghost stories of the hanging death of two witches that took place long ago. The trees that the witches were hung from still stand, and their graves were places above ground. People report black apparitions, strange phenomena, and unexplained weather changes on the anniversary of their deaths. The cemetery is located on Jim Wilson Road.

3. Campbell Cemetery, Busy.

Located on Forked Mouth Road, Campbell Cemetery has a site called Coffin Rock. Locals say a man was shot and killed there decades ago. Now when it rains, some say blood appears on the rock. There are other active spirits reported as well, like an old man who flags down cars, a young girl in the road, and a wandering elderly woman.

4. Baker Hollow Road Cemetery, Marion.

This cemetery near Baker Hollow Road can be a bit difficult to find, so don’t be surprised if you don’t see it right off. Community members claim the cemetery seems to move around, never staying in the same place. Wherever it goes, a ghost dog, soldiers, men hanging from a tree, laughter, music and screams seem to follow.
This cemetery off Hwy 459 is said to have a very unfriendly spirit within its gates. Visitors have reported feelings of extreme discomfort, and being followed by an unseen, but troubling spirit. Those who find themselves to be in the sights of this disturbing spirit complain of an overwhelming sense of fear. Would you be brave enough to visit this haunted cemetery in Kentucky?
This beautiful Kentucky cemetery at 2307 Grapevine Road is said to be home to a young male ghost in mourning. Witnesses say he committed suicide when his love left him. Now, locals claim when a love song plays near the cemetery, you can hear a young man scream.

This Kentucky cemetery off Lick Creed Road has reportedly had apparitions, glowing eyes, orbs, and things that disappear and reappear. Ghost stories have been spreading about this peaceful little cemetery since around the 1950s.

This place of rest has also been deemed Kasey’s Cemetery and the "Gates of Hell." It holds the graves of people from the 1700s and the 1800s. It is said an enormous orb appeared over the iron and stone gate, hovered there then disappeared. The gate has been misshapen since the event, but screams and shadowy figures are often reported at this haunted cemetery in Kentucky.
10. Cave Hill Cemetery, Louisville

Cave Hill Cemetery was built in 1848, during the Victorian era as a garden/park style cemetery. There are strange lights, mists, laughter, screams, talking, and other unexplained events that occur within its gates.
The final resting place can be seen as peaceful, or creepy, depending on the time of day and location. These supposedly haunted cemeteries in Kentucky all have a unique environment, architecture, or history that adds to their allure.
