Everyone wants to live somewhere that makes them happy. If you’re a Kentucky native, your best bet might be to move to Cold Spring. That’s because career platform Zippia has released its list of the happiest towns in Kentucky and Cold Spring has come out on top. Keep reading to find out why.
Cold Spring is a small community of just 6,370 people in Campbell County. Though technically a city, this place feels more like a small town. The population has actually almost doubled since 2000, when Cold Spring was home to just 3,806 people.
To narrow down the happiest spots in the state, Zippia considered the 83 places in Kentucky with over 2,000 people and looked at a few different factors. For each place, researchers considered the number of people with at least a bachelor’s degree, local employment rates, average commute time, cost of living, marriage and divorce rates, home ownership, and the poverty rate. The data all came from the 2010-2014 American Community Survey.
Beating out every other spot in Kentucky, Cold Spring claimed the top prize. It has a high proportion of married adults (56.1 percent) and residents who own their own home (83 percent). The town is quiet, peaceful, and boasts a low crime rate. Only 1% of families live under the poverty line. Though it’s hard to quantify happiness, living somewhere with clean streets, friendly neighbors, and a low crime can definitely help. The people of Cold Spring should be proud to have such an enviable community.
