Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and some people do not do a traditional Kentucky holiday dinner. There are those that are unable to cook, or have no family to actually visit. Fortunately, for people in that situation, there are some wonderful restaurants that serve up a festive Thanksgiving meal. Local soup kitchens also usually provide a turkey dinner for any homeless or poor, in areas that have such facilities. Everyone deserves some holiday love and a good meal, and most Kentuckians try to take care of our own.

This southern comfort food restaurant is located at 101 Hilltop Drive in Lawrenceburg, and offers not just a turkey dinner, but a Thanksgiving buffet. Who can resist all you can eat turkey, dressing and all the fixings made fresh by Tonya and her friendly staff. This is a must-do for those in the area wanting to step away from their own kitchens.
This buffet style restaurant is a favorite among locals and is located at 3202 Shelbyville Road in Shelbyville. There is never a shortage of delicious food, but on Thanksgiving, they switch up and add turkey, along with the chicken. The food is always hot, fresh and delicious, especially on the holidays. This is a great place to consider if you want to escape your own kitchen during Thanksgiving.
We have dined at 2339 Cambellsville Road in Columbia on more then one occasion. We never left disappointed. Everything is made fresh, and you can taste the love that goes into every bite. On Thanksgiving they have a special turkey dinner with all the fixings available, and a packed house is not unusual. Don’t worry though, as they make enough to go around. For the record, they also have chocolate gravy, as shown in the image. That is hard to come by when not made at home.
Those looking for a unique way to spend Thanksgiving should consider taking a cruise that includes dinner at 101 Riverboat Row in Newport. There are several different river boats to choose from, and the food is delicious. BB offers a variety of holiday cruises for those who would rather spend an evening out rolling down the Ohio River.
Though it is an Italian themed restaurant, you can see from the menu that the chef’s have a perfect Thanksgiving dinner planned out for visitors. Come in and enjoy the festivities without worrying about the clean up at 280 West Jefferson in Louisville. The food is so good you can’t help but come back again.
Visit beautiful Lake Cumberland and enjoy Thanksgiving in the lodge around 5465 State Park Road in Jamestown. This lodge offers an all you can eat buffet from noon till around 8 pm in the midst of the parks breathtaking scenery. The normal Thanksgiving foods are on the menu, but they also have fried catfish for those looking for a change of pace.
Once known as Chez Nora, located at 530 Main Street in Covington, Lisse is now making their reputation. They offer a great meal for a fair price on Thanksgiving. Though new, Lisse has remodeled and plans on renovating the hearts of visitors over the holidays. Fresh turkey and fixings along with their regular menu will be available for diners.
Those ready to dine on some fabulous food for Thanksgiving need to visit Mitchell’s at Newport on the Levee in Newport. This local favorite will be offering a traditional turkey dinner for those not interested in cooking this Thursday, along with their fantastic seafood dishes.
