There are many historic buildings in Kentucky that have been repurposed and are now living a completely different life. It’s always a great thing to see these structures saved, and it’s even better when they become a business that serves up incredible food. Located in the town of Henderson, the most adorable little gas station was transformed into Rick’s Una Pizza over 40 years ago. This historic building has now been a favorite local pizza parlor for decades and it’s worth the drive to check it out.
Kentucky offers countless options for a great pizza, but there aren't many that are as charming as this former gas station, now called Rick's Una Pizza. Rick's has been a staple in Henderson since 1974, but before that, this little building lived a very different life.
The pizza parlor now sits on a busy corner in Henderson and is known for its excellent carry-out pizza, Stromboli, and subs. It's also one of the very few places in Kentucky where you can enjoy a true Chicago-style pizza.
Rick's Chicago Stuffed Pizza is a flavorful work of art, and if you enjoy deep-dish, you'll love this. You can get the house special, all-meat, or build your own to your liking, and it comes in a variety of sizes.
Rick's Una Pizza is equally as popular for its thin cracker-crust pizza. These pies also come piled with meat and other toppings, or design your own with over a dozen topping choices.
While the pizza is worthy of a visit, Rick's also has some of the best Stromboli and subs you’ll ever taste. The Stromboli, shown below, is a baked, cheesy, meaty creation that will have you wanting to visit Henderson every chance you get.
The ham and cheese and submarine sandwiches are also tasty and round out the menu perfectly. No matter what you order, keep in mind that Rick's is carry-out only, so there isn’t a dining area and you'll have to find a place to enjoy your meal.
Rick's Una Pizza is hard to miss when you're in Henderson, thanks to its charming and historic gas station exterior. However, it's what is on the inside that counts, and the pizza and sandwiches at Rick's have been a local favorite for decades for a very tasty reason.
Rick’s Una Pizza is a delicious pizza parlor that’s been a Henderson staple for decades, and it does a wonderful job of keeping a historic former gas station alive and well. Are you from western Kentucky and have enjoyed a slice of deep dish from Rick’s? How about the thin-crust pizza? Would you love to try it? Let us know in the comments!
