I grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. I have lived elsewhere twice, but keep coming back. I'm a video editor and freelance writer who enjoys watching people wearing University of Louisville uniforms excel at sports, scaling the faces of large rocks, and hanging out with my border collie/laborador/cattle dog mutt thingy that I have.
Waterfalls in Kentucky are always stunning, but once you see one wrapped in ice it’s unforgettable. Kentucky may not experience winters that are nearly as harsh as other states in the country like Michigan or Minnesota, but cold, nasty weather can hit pretty hard — even if you were wearing shorts earlier in the week. But don’t completely dread a winter storm, because it can make everything look like a winter wonderland, especially if you’re near a waterfall. Check out these 8 waterfalls in Kentucky that look even more delightful in winter.
These are just some of the scenic waterfalls in Kentucky, but we want to see more of them! Post your pictures of frozen waterfalls in Kentucky in the comments below. And if you need a place to see after exploring the outdoor beauty, check out the Vrbo website for some cozy accommodations.

Winter In Kentucky

What are some of the best winter attractions in Kentucky?
My Old Kentucky Home State Park (Bardstown): This place is enchanting all year round, but near the end of November through December, the staff hosts special events, such as Victorian Christmas Tours and "An Old Kentucky Christmas Carol." But even after the holidays, the scenery is divine inside and out of the 200-year-old mansion and plantation of the Rowan family. Hear the tales of death and fame, and marvel over the original antiques and architectural spaces. And the best part — "My Old Kentucky Home" is sung by the tour guides during every tour.
Carter Caves State Resort Park (Olive Hill): Year-round tours are offered on this adventure created by nature over millions of years old. Hiking is also available through the gorgeous countryside and birding enthusiasts especially enjoy the sights in the winter of the northern sparrows, juncos, purple finches, brown creepers, and many others. And find a place to hibernate in the Caveland Lodge or Carter Caves Campground.
Kentucky Horse Park (Lexington): Certain locations of the campground at this lovely park are open year-round. The winter season also allows Stall-Side Chats for guests to visit the horses in the warmth of their cozy spaces. Also, enjoy the Wrigley Media Theater to see the film "Rein of Nobility," and enjoy the interesting International Museum of the Horse, and the American Saddlebred Museum.
