Everyone knows Kentucky has amazing barbecue and bourbon, but did you know that it’s also home to some top-notch Cajun and Creole cooking? In fact, at Bourbon n’ Toulouse in Lexington, Kentucky, the Jambalaya is so tasty that it is made twice each day and it still completely sells out every day!
It’s always these modest, hole-in-the-wall joints that have food that you’ll never forget. Bourbon n’ Toulouse is getting rave reviews and is a local favorite for Cajun and Creole food.
The decor is as lively and whimsical as the food is flavorful, with a down-home New Orleans style. There is a huge selection of sauces for all the delicious dishes. You could eat here every day for weeks and have a different culinary experience each time.
The Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya looks simple, but the flavors are bold and complex and so delicious that the restaurant makes two massive batches per day and completely sells out of both.
The Jambalaya isn’t the only star of the show here. The Etouffee and the Gumbo are also popular picks and the good news is that you don’t have to stick with just one dish. You can mix and match various half-and-half combos to your heart’s content. Just get early because some of these sell out as well!
The menu doesn’t stop there. You can also get White Chili with Chicken, Red Beans with Smoked Sausage, Black Beans with Cajun Sausage, Cajun Red Chili, and much more, including veggie options.
If the original location is full, there’s a newer, second location also in Lexington with the same great food to double your chances of getting some of that yummy Jambalaya.
