I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.
I'm a writer and editor at OnlyInYourState, and a contributing writer at Cincinnati Magazine. I love the Great Outdoors and am endlessly awestruck by this beautiful country of ours. Coffee keeps me going, yoga keeps me sane, my kids keep me grounded, and my writing keeps me inspired.
Kentucky is full of the most winsome little towns, located all across the Bluegrass State. In fact, we’re home to the friendliest small towns and even one of the best small towns in America. With so many great places to call home, it’s inevitable that some will be overlooked. That’s most certainly the case with Richmond, a historic town located in Madison County. While the city is the sixth largest in the state, it’s often overshadowed by its big city siblings. Don’t overlook this Kentucky town, however, as Richmond offers the picture-perfect slice of Bluegrass pie.
Richmond, Kentucky, is located in the center of the state, and offers visitors an authentic Bluegrass experience.
The Irvinton House Museum is the only local museum in the city. The now-museum was built in 1820 and served many functions over the years, including a trachoma hospital from 1918 to 1950. (Trachoma is a severely contagious eye infection.)
A town steeped in history, Richmond is a place where the past lives on. Here, a group of historical interpreters portraying U.S. Army Soldiers prepares to enter the fray during one of the city's Battle of Richmond reenactments.
Of course, being a college town, you know the food is going to be good! Downtown Richmond is home to amazing pizza, barbecue, and Southern restaurants!
