Newport is a riverfront town in Kentucky located right across the Ohio River from Cincinnati.
Many parts of the city have seen transformations over the years and you'll find one of the most picturesque areas in what is called the East Row. Along these streets are beautifully restored homes, many of them colorful, and trees lining the sidewalks.
It was already a great place to go for a walk and admire the homes and history, but it became even more endearing in 2014.
In that year, a resident decided to start placing whimsical little fairy doors around the neighborhood. To this day, most people do not know the identity of this friendly neighbor.

In the beginning, the makers would surprise neighbors with a door, so they would wake up in the morning to a new little addition and apparently some new, magical inhabitants.
These doors are handcrafted using concrete, plaster, or resin and then hand painted and sealed. They've estimated to have placed as many as 150 doors throughout the East Row over the last few years.
