I am somewhat a cliche'. I grew up running around barefoot on a farm in Kentucky.
I love writing, art, sunshine, all animals and my incredibly patient husband, who tolerates my "crazy animal lady" side.
Studies have proven the sound of water flowing is relaxing, especially over a waterfall. There is just something about the gentle ripples followed by the small or large splash of the water as it plummets over the edge to whatever waits below. On some especially hot days, we might not feel like going for a hike to see one. Fortunately, we don’t have too. There is a beautiful urban waterfall in Kentucky right in Louisville’s Waterfront Park.
On 129 E River Road is a perfect spot to visit alone or with friends and family. You can just sit, relax, and enjoy the river view. If you tire of river gazing, the allure of the urban waterfall offers a peaceful view and an ambient sound.
The stroll to the waterfall is can be quite relaxing. The architecture, well maintained landscaping and unique statues create their own kind of ambiance.
You can cool down at this area of the park, or wade through the pool by the waterfall. There are stepping stones that lead directly across the water away from the spraying fish. Whichever area you choose, there is a way to cool off and the soothing sounds of flowing water.
There are concerts on Wednesday’s through the warm season. Visitors not only get to enjoy the waterfall and river environment, but also be entertained by music. There are also festivals in Waterfront Park during the spring, summer and fall seasons.
No matter your vantage point, the river offers an amazing view of the sunset as it glistens off the Ohio River. Sitting by the waterfall, you get a double dose of watery ambiance.
