While it’s true that we might be slightly biased, it’s impossible to deny this fact the more time you spend outside! Whether you’re a novice hiker or someone who’s been hitting the trails for decades, Kentucky offers tons of opportunities to breathe in the fresh air on a trail. One of our favorites is accessible to those looking for something less strenuous. But trust us when we say you won’t be missing out on any of the views!

This region crosses the border into Tennessee and the Big South Fork Area allows visitors the opportunity to hike to unique rock formations, waterfalls, and some of the most beautiful overlooks anywhere.

One of our favorite overlooks is the Bear Creek Overlook and the hike to get there is relatively easy. First, head to the parking lot located directly at the trailhead. From here simply follow the signs for the Bear Creek overlook, which are all fairly obvious.

While the hike is accessible throughout the year, we especially love it during the spring when the water is rushing in the falls, during the fall when some of the trees have changed color or during the winter when the sky is blue and the air is crisp.
