We talk about hiking in Kentucky a lot around here, and it’s easy to do with so many scenic places to explore. We highly encourage Kentuckians to explore every corner of our state – and everything in between – but one must-visit destination for everyone who loves to hike is Red River Gorge. In this favorite area, you’ll find the Double Arch Trail in Kentucky. At almost 5 miles, it’s a little longer than other trails in the area, but it’s also fairly easy, which means it is a great way to spend a day in the Gorge.

The Double Arch Trail is in the heart of Red River Gorge and includes many of the natural features this area is known for. If you're looking for an all-around great hike, this is an excellent option.

After parking in the lot and locating the trailhead, you'll walk along a road for awhile, but you'll soon be deep in the woods, surrounded by rock formations and thick foliage.

This trail is just downright fun thanks to some unique features. These built-in rock stairs are exciting to climb and since this is an out-and-back trail, you'll get to do them twice!

There are regular stairs too, but overall this hike is fairly easy. There are definitely sections where you'll need to be very cautious and it is five miles long, but it's generally a great hike for all levels.
