Stretched out across 18 miles of Kentucky, the Dawkins Line Rail Trial is a great way to explore the natural beauty and history of the state. Eventually this old rail line will be converted into a 36 mile long trail that can be used by hikers, bikers, and horseback riders. This trail is still fairly new and still a bit of a hidden gem. Most people have no idea that they can walk through an abandoned trail tunnel right here in the Bluegrass State.
Rail-to-trail projects are popping up all across the United States. Right here in Kentucky hikers and bikers are enjoying Dawkins Line Rail Trail.
Take in the beautiful scenery and enjoy the peacefulness of rural Kentucky. In the spring and summer the trail is lined with greenery and native flowers.
So grab your walking shoes or your bike and hit the trail. You'll find that no matter how many times you take this trail you'll always be excited to see Gun Creek Tunnel.
