I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.

There are lots of historic places to grab a bite in Kentucky, from the world’s oldest bourbon bar in Bardstown to the Hollywood famous Pompilios in Newport. And in Horse Country? Well, there’s a long-standing restaurant that’s nothing short of a culinary masterpiece, and most certainly belongs on your Kentucky dining bucket list. Welcome to Fava’s of Georgetown, the oldest restaurant in Kentucky Horse Country, and blue-ribbon winner in our book.
Fava's Restaurant has been a gathering spot in the charming town of Georgetown since 1910. What began as a confectionary with homemade ice cream and candies is now a popular local eatery that serves all of the Southern classics.
Inside, not much has changed since 1910; if you've ever been inside Fava's, then you know that the decor is one of its main features. It's cheery and whimsical with classic cartoon characters and other nostalgic decor all over the restaurant, which is a welcome bit of nostalgia in an ever-changing world.
The menu, too, has remained steadfast over the years. Fava's serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and the menu is filled with Kentucky classics. Fava's version of the iconic Kentucky Hot Brown is not to be missed, and will truly take your brunch to the next level.
The side dishes here are particularly epic, and often steal the show from the mains. Fried pickles and melt-in-your-mouth biscuits? No arguments here; we're too busy eating.
No proper Kentucky meal is complete without pie, and Fava's takes their pies very seriously. The fruit pies are absolutely to-die-for, but the homemade cream pies are the stuff of dessert dreams!
Never change, Fava's. We love you just the way you are!
Have you dined at Fava’s, the oldest restaurant in Kentucky Horse Country? This Georgetown restaurant is a true Kentucky treasure, and we hope they’re around forever.
