Camping is such a fun way to experience our state and Kentucky offers many campgrounds and getaway spots that are perfect for a relaxing adventure. Some avid campers have an extensive set up with an RV and all the features, while others carry everything they need in a backpack. And then there are those of us who don’t even own a flashlight, but still want to experience the unique fun of camping. If this describes you, or you’re looking for a unique overnight adventure in the Bluegrass, then check out the newest covered wagon campground in Kentucky. The Conestoga Wagons at the Horse Cave KOA are now available for rent and they’re filled with surprises.
Horse Cave KOA is a popular campground, conveniently located near all of the fun to be had in this Kentucky town.
The Horse Cave area is a great getaway destination for its various attractions, including the fascinating Hidden River Cave. The campground offers RV spots and cabins for rent, but it now has a new feature that is truly unique.
Three Conestoga Wagons, a type of covered wagon, were recently completed at the campground and are now available for overnight stays.
As you can imagine, these wagons are already quite popular, so at first the campground is requiring a minimum two-night stay. They're also offering a special rate of $119/night plus taxes through June 21st. The rate will go up to $150/night plus taxes after that.

The set up of the wagons is similar to an RV, but you don't have to bring it with you!
You'll of course have the use of the wagon during your stay, as well as the bath house, which is right across from the wagons. You also have a designated area right outside your wagon to set up as you like.
The wagon offers electricity, which means it has both heat and air conditioning. There is a bed, a bunk bed, small table and chair and other features that will make your stay very comfortable. If you have more questions about the details of the wagons, you can call the campground at 270-786-2819.
If you aren't able to book a wagon or you're looking for a spot for your camper, Horse Cave KOA has RV sites, as well.
And all campers will have access to the campground's great amenities which include a pool, pond, fishing, dog park, mini golf, and more. And don't forget that it's close to Hidden River Cave, Kentucky Down Under Adventure Zoo, and other exciting destinations.
It's not a typical thing to find covered wagons at a campground in Kentucky, but they make for such a fun and unique way to have an overnight adventure in the Bluegrass.
