Start your engines! Kentucky may be horse country, but there’s an attraction here that’s all about horsepower. The National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, Kentucky, is a place dedicated to this American icon, and it is a must-visit for any and all car enthusiasts in the Bluegrass State.
Bowling Green, Kentucky, is no stranger to unique museums. Within this city, the Kentucky Museum houses a massive homage to Duncan Hines, while the Historic Railpark & Train Museum is one big locomotive love letter. So it's not surprising that in this museum mecca in Kentucky, you'll find the National Corvette Museum, too.
This 115,000-square-foot space showcases America's sports car in a variety of ways, with over 80 cars displayed in periodic settings, including a mid-century barbershop, a service station, and an historic race track.
Visitors can admire classic Corvettes in mint condition, one-of-a-kind prototypes that never went into production, and modern-day marvels of engineering and design.
The museum also features rare collectibles and memorabilia; it's a place sure to please even the most die-hard car enthusiast. Interactive elements abound here, too. Visitors have the opportunity to sit behind the wheel of a Corvette... and register to drive one home, too...
Even the most avid fans will learn something new here. An audio tour enhances the self-guided museum experience, and can easily be downloaded off the Museum's website.
The Corvette Museum even takes its exhibits on the road -- recently, the museum hosted the Museum in Motion exhibit in an 83-foot tractor-trailer that transformed into a 1,100-square-foot memorial in honor of 9/11. What a fun opportunity for folks all across the Bluegrass to enjoy this epic museum.
