If you’ve been around awhile, you know we already think Kentucky is pretty amazing. It’s nothing new to us, but over time, Kentucky only gets better with age and in many ways it’s become the coolest state in America. We could discuss this topic all day long, but to get started, here are 9 ways the Bluegrass State is just plain cool.
Give us a front porch, a glass of sweet tea (or bourbon) and a view like the photo above and we are pretty much in our happy place. We appreciate the simple things in life and try our best to slow down and enjoy the moment.
Kentucky is full of amazing campgrounds and now you can even find unique spots like these epic tree houses by EarthJoy Tree Adventures. You can camp by a lake, overlooking a vast valley, or even up in a tree - and all in Kentucky!
Kentucky is home to the Bourbon Trail but there is a new distillery in Frankfort that will open soon and will add major cool factor to our state. Castle & Key, pictured above, has the industry's first female Master Distiller and is located on some of the most beautiful property in the state.
Kentuckians know and love food and we'll try just about anything. OBC Kitchen in Lexington, pictured above, is a chef-driven restaurant with a beautiful ambiance and even more beautifully created dishes. It pays homage to Kentucky's roots while continuing to push the envelope.
When you think of Kentucky restaurants, the classic diner probably comes to mind first. Sitting at a counter, like the one at Rick's White Light Diner in Frankfort, eating a homemade breakfast, and chatting about the town gossip is about as classic Kentucky you can get, and still utterly cool.
Especially in cities like Paducah and Berea, the arts are an important part of Kentucky's culture. We continue to celebrate this historic craft while keeping it modern and applicable to today.
Thunder Over Louisville is one of the biggest parties of the year, but it doesn't stop there. From small town fairs and festivals to the epic gatherings many towns held this year for the Solar Eclipse - Kentucky knows how to have a good time.
Here's a fun fact for you: Kentucky has the greatest length of navigable waterways and streams in the continental 48 states. It may not be that surprising when you think about how much Kentuckians love to boat, fish, kayak, canoe, or simply hang out on the banks of one of our state's many bodies of water.
Welcome, y'all! Our favorite word, y'all, is welcoming in and of itself! From the biggest cities to the tiniest of mountain towns, you'll be greeted with a smile in Kentucky. And what's cooler than that?
