Welcome to Claudia Sanders Dinner House. This stately, old-fashioned restaurant has been a favorite in Shelbyville since 1968. Though the original building burned down in 1999, a brand new one was built in its place, and it's every bit as charming.
You'll find Claudia Sanders Dinner House at 3202 Shelbyville Rd., Shelbyville, KY 40065.
Harland Sanders and his wife, Claudia moved to Shelbyville in 1959. After Harland had built his Kentucky Fried Chicken empire and sold it to investors, the Sanders family decided to open a traditional restaurant, thus Claudia Sanders Dinner House was created.
This beautiful restaurant was meant to be a place where folks could gather for a delicious chicken dinner in a family-style setting that's a little less fast-food and a little more of a dining-at-grandma's-house kind of experience.
You'll love the Southern charm that this classic restaurant offers, and it's full of photos and memorabilia from the Sanders family. Though Harland passed away in 1980 and Claudia passed in 1996, their legacy lives on here.
There are two ways to enjoy a scrumptious chicken dinner at Claudia Sanders. The first is to order the Claudia's Chicken Special off the dinner menu. It comes with two pieces of fried chicken, mashed potatoes, and a side dish of your choice.
If you really want to experience a home-style, sit-down chicken dinner, order the fried chicken family-style dinner. It comes with all-you-can-eat fried chicken, four different vegetables, soup or salad, and unlimited homemade bread.
Whether you go with a simple entree or a full-sized family dinner, you'll be enjoying perfectly prepared chicken that's juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Where better to get a chicken dinner than from the world-famous creators of Kentucky Fried Chicken?
Who's ready for a delicious fried chicken dinner? Claudia Sanders Dinner House is open Tuesday through Sunday. The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. and closes at 8 p.m. most nights, but stays open until 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
