If you're looking to recreate the magic of your favorite Hallmark holiday movie, visit Bardstown, Kentucky, during the holiday season. Because this is when the already-enchanting town becomes irresistibly charming. From mid-November through New Year’s, the Christmas ‘Round Bardstown Festival invites guests to come and experience the pure pleasure of the holiday season in Kentucky. This annual event kicks off in mid-November, with local businesses and attractions decking their halls for all to see and enjoy. Then right after Thanksgiving, the town gathers for a tree lighting of epic proportions. This is when Christmas 'Round Bardstown really gets going. From Thanksgiving through New Year's, the town hosts a number of fun and family-friendly activities, including a live nativity, story times and visits with Santa, an ice skating rink, and more. From town, you can even opt to take a ride on My Old Kentucky Dinner Train's North Pole Express, but that might just be *too* much holiday spirit! (Kidding, of course.)
We'd be remiss not to list Grand Rivers as a "best holiday spirit" honorable mention. Situated right along Kentucky Lake, this town is known for its summer fun on the water, but it also becomes Kentucky's city of lights during the holiday season. One of the most popular spots in the town, Patti's 1880's Settlement is the hub of all of this festive fun. In addition to the 1.5 *million* twinkling lights at Patti's, this Grand Rivers hub hosts special holiday events where the lights are the stars of the show. Basically, if you're a fan of Kentucky Christmas lights, visit Grand Rivers during the holidays for a big, ole dose of holiday spirit!
