Located in the heart of Georgetown, Fava’s Restaurant delivers on all three of these attributes, as well as many others. In fact, this century-old diner is the ultimate crowd pleaser and a must-try in this lovely area of Kentucky.
Fava's Restaurant has been a gathering spot in the charming town of Georgetown since 1910. What began as a confectionary with homemade ice cream and candies is now a popular local eatery that serves all of the southern classics.
The red awning has always made Fava's easy to spot along Main Street in downtown Georgetown, but the diner recently received a makeover. It still has that classic, nostalgic appearance, but with a fresh look.
Fava's has long been a family-owned restaurant, sold to a number of different owners throughout the decades. The current owners strive to continue the tradition of good food and creating a friendly place where both locals and visitors can gather.
If you've ever been inside Fava's, then you know that the decor is one of its main features. It's cheery and whimsical with cartoon characters and other nostalgic decor all over the restaurant.
If you're concerned that the exterior makeover changed the interior, don't worry. You'll still find Disney characters and Betty Boop waiting to say hello.
Fava's serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner and the menu is filled with southern classics. The fried catfish is a favorite and can be served up as a dinner with sides or piled atop as a Po'boy sandwich.
The appetizers are also a highlight on the menu and can really be a meal on their own. Go with the Combo option where you can choose three of their specialties: Golden fried house-made frickles, fried banana peppers, Fava chips, Rings of Fire (fried jalapenos), loaded cheese fries or Beer Cheese with chips.
Sweets have always a been a tradition at Fava's, so you must save room for dessert. A slice of homemade pie perfectly ends a meal, or go with an ice cream sundae or hot fudge cake.
