There are so many great outdoor dining options throughout the warmer months in Kentucky, but don’t let the fun stop when the temperatures drop. You may not be able to cruise by boat to your favorite spot at the marina or relax in the hot sun with a margarita, but you can still have a very enjoyable outdoor dining experience in Kentucky, no matter the season. Captain’s Quarters Riverside Grille is a popular restaurant in Prospect that sits right on the Ohio River and this year they’ve added igloo dining in Kentucky. These heated igloos are becoming quite popular and now you can hang out in a riverside igloo throughout the cooler months in the Bluegrass.
Captain's Quarters Riverside Grille is a popular Louisville area restaurant that sits right on the Ohio River.
Both indoor and outdoor dining options offer some of the best views in the state and it's easy to see why this is such a popular place to dine in the summer.
But when winter and colder temperatures arrive, typically everyone moves indoors.
While that is still a lovely dining experience, this year Captain's Quarters decided to try a newer trend in outdoor patios - igloo dining in Kentucky.

The restaurant has six igloos that are available for reservations both day and night.
They sit out on the massive outdoor patio space of the restaurant that overlooks the water. Not only are there now cozy igloos, but the twinkling lights, fire pits, and other heaters make this the ultimate outdoor dining destination in Kentucky, even when it's chilly.
Reservations are not required before 4 pm, but are recommended. And these are already pretty popular, so if you have a date and time in mind, call as soon as possible and be sure to be patient as it may take awhile to get through.
Once you and your party arrive at your igloo, you'll be able to enjoy the delicious food and drink offerings from the Captain's Quarters' menu.
There is a $100 food and beverage minimum after 4pm and a 25% gratuity will be automatically added to your bill, no matter the time of day. But when split between a small group, it can be a unique way to enjoy an evening out.
If you can't snag an igloo reservation, the interior dining room is absolutely cozy and inviting all year long.
It's romantic enough for a date night and special enough for a celebration of any kind. And the food (especially the seafood) is another true highlight.
