Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest has long been a favorite destination in the Bluegrass State and this year it’s received a lot of attention. You may not realize that these giants are on display at Bernheim to celebrate the forest’s 90th anniversary, and that is not all they have planned. They have announced that they will be hosting a family campout on August 10th and if you’re interested, you’ll want to buy tickets now! Camp under the stars with giants at this beloved forest in Kentucky and discover yet another reason to love Bernheim Arboretum.
Bernheim Arboretum has always been a popular place for Kentuckians to visit, but it's seen thousands of visitors since the arrival of these unique giants.
These works of art will be around for a few years, but they were put in place to celebrate the forest's 90th anniversary. They are hosting many other events to celebrate, including a family campout that takes place on August 10th through the 11th.
The unique gathering will allow families to experience the forest at nighttime, including the brilliant views of the illuminated sky.
You must register for the event ahead of time and a direct link is listed below. You're welcome to bring a small tent, chairs, and blankets for the evening and any sleep you choose to do.

The event begins at 7 p.m., but you can always arrive to the forest earlier and explore any of the incredible trails.
These limestone structures were built by a Louisville artist and represent the connection between nature and science. Since you'll be embracing that during your star-gazing overnight, be sure to check this out as well.
Since you typically can't stay in the forest past dark, this is a one-of-a-kind chance to take in its beauty after the sun goes down. Special guided night hikes are planned, as well as other events for the entire family.
The bonfire will be lit at 9 p.m., but keep in mind you will not be able to build your own.
Thanks to the darkness of the forest, you'll hopefully have great conditions to view a number of constellations and take in the nighttime beauty of our state.
And then the next morning, you'll have the unique opportunity to wake up with these big, friendly giants.
This forest in Kentucky has so much to offer and even if you can't make it to the campout, check Bernheim's website for more ways to celebrate with them this year.
