As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
When you’re looking for a special place to spend a night away, for rest, serenity and renewal, look no further than the heart of Kentucky’s horse and bourbon country. The historic Beaumont Inn has been welcoming guests since 1919 and is one of the most breathtaking bed and breakfast destinations in the state. Whether you live in Kentucky, or are just visiting, you simply must spend at least one night at this Bluegrass charmer.
Located in the oldest town in Kentucky, Harrodsburg, the Beaumont Inn is nestled on a lovely estate in the heart of the Bluegrass. The Dedman family runs this Bed and Breakfast with much love and care and it shows in the natural beauty of the grounds and the southern charm of the buildings.
The Inn is in the heart of horse country, so the drive to your stay may be just as delightful as the visit itself. You'll pass rolling hills with roaming horses and picturesque farms as you head toward historic Harrodsburg.
The property of the bed and breakfast is much like a sprawling park, with three distinct buildings that house a total of 31 guest rooms. The rooms range in size, features and price, but all are tastefully appointed and include a private bath, free wi-fi, air conditioning and other modern features. The Greystone House is pictured below, built in 1931 as a private house, it now has four luxurious platinum level suites.
The most recognizable building on the property, the Main Inn, was built in 1845 and was originally a school. This traditional southern-style home is beautifully decorated with antiques that stay true to the history of the inn.
The rooms are also filled with antiques, some from the original Beaumont property. The Inn also offers spa services, packages that can meet the needs of any traveler and superb customer service.
Despite the historic nature of the Inn, there are many modern amenities. The pool is a welcoming way to spend a hot afternoon, or stroll along the walking paths and then relax on one of the many porch rocking chairs.
Beaumont Inn is also known for its superb dining room and menu. While they may be famous for their yellow-legged fried chicken, you really can't go wrong with any of the delicious choices. You can also visit the Old Owl Tavern, a bar and grill on site that is an official stop on the Bourbon Trail and subsequently offers over 70 varieties of the Kentucky whiskey.
The Beaumont Inn is the ultimate Kentucky experience, in one of the most beautiful spots in the state. There are endless options of places to spend the night in Kentucky, but you need to put Beaumont Inn at the top of your list, at least once.
