It’s always fun to see how our state stacks up against the others in a variety of lists and reports. We all know that Kentucky is a fantastic state, but we also know that we can often be found at the bottom of some of those data compilations. But we have good news today, as it seems two of our cities rank in the top ten states as the best drivers in the nation! Louisville outranked Lexington by several spots, but both of these larger Kentucky cities can brag about the quality of their drivers.
When driving into or through the Bluegrass State, have you ever wondered where we rank in terms of the quality of our drivers?
You don't have to wonder anymore thanks to a new study put out by Quote Wizard. They have ranked the cities with the worst and best drivers in the nation and you may be surprised to learn how our two largest cities scored.
The map below shows the best and the worst in green and red, respectively.
Do you see those two green markers in Kentucky?! Yes, that means that both Louisville and Lexington ranked in the top ten of the best drivers in the nation. Our neighbor to the north did not fare as well, as Ohio had two major cities in the list of worst drivers.

Louisville actually ranked 2nd on the list and according to the study, has never ranked worse than 17th since the study has been held.
They used four factors to determine these lists: accidents, speeding tickets, DUIs, and citations (using a phone, running a red light, etc.). The number of these incidents was tallied and the lists were compiled.
True, everyone does seem to forget how to drive in our state when the first flurries fly. However, who are we to argue with a study? We might as well take this claim to fame and declare ourselves some of the best drivers in the nation.
We already knew Kentucky was the best and now we know that Louisville and Lexington are also the best in the nation when it comes to good driving. But we have to know – do you agree? We have a feeling this topic will cause a bit of a debate, so feel free to share your thoughts with us in the comments!
