When you think of a good bakeshop, there are a few necessary criteria. Of course, delicious sweet treats top the list, but it’s also crucial to provide a friendly atmosphere, have outstanding customer service—and a good cup of coffee doesn’t hurt, either. Well, in Winchester, just outside of Lexington, a rather new bakery passes this test with flying colors. The Banery is now in the running for the best little bakeshop in America, and you’ll soon see why.
The Banery may be new to the bakery scene, but you'd never know it by their extensive menu and incredible baking talent. In just a short time, they've racked up a perfect 5-star rating on their Facebook page, as customers have been raving about their sweets, as well as their customer service.
The Banery offers the perfect combo of both sweets and coffee. You can enjoy your choices in their little shop, or on a nice day, take it outside to their charming patio!
The bakeshop offers a consistent menu daily (unless things sell out), but they also have a rotating schedule of special cupcake flavors and cakes. Their Kentucky-shaped menu speaks to its local flavor and dedication to paying homage to the Bluegrass State with their menu and ingredients.
As you approach the case, be prepared for a tough choice. One of the favorites is the Winchester Ale Cupcake, as well as the scones. The cupcakes are huge and more delicious with each bite. You can also call ahead to see what cakes are available, and be sure to ask about the Chocolate Chip Angel Food Cake.
The Banery is also a go-to for specialty cakes for weddings, birthdays and really any occasion. Pictured below is a chocolate cake covered with peanut butter Icing, chocolate ganache, and peanut butter cups. It doesn't get much better than that.
The locally-owned and run Banery bakeshop's impressive offering of cupcakes, scones, cakes and even cinnamon rolls has taken the town of Winchester by storm and when you visit, you'll see why. The only downfall may be their summer hours, which are Tuesday- Friday from 9am - 5pm. But trust us, you may even consider taking a vacation day to try this little bakeshop in the heart of Kentucky.
