Kentucky may not fall on the barbecue radar for the rest of the country, but the locals know that the Bluegrass State has countless, mouthwatering options. We can hang with the best BBQ joints in areas like Kansas City, Texas, and Memphis, and if you need proof, start with our list of hole-in-the-wall options here. Those always tend to be the best. And another beloved Kentucky BBQ destination to add to the list is Louisville’s Momma’s Mustard, Pickles & BBQ. There are two locations in our state’s largest city and this incredible BBQ restaurant will satisfy your taste buds and have you reaching for more napkins.
Momma's Mustard, Pickles & BBQ has two locations in Louisville — one in St. Matthews and one in Hurstbourne. Both serve up Kansas City-style BBQ that's out of this world.
The owner, who is from Kansas but now calls Louisville home, wanted to bring her favorite style of BBQ to the Bluegrass State, along with her Momma's popular homemade mustard and pickles. She did just that, first with a food truck, and eventually with two stand-alone restaurants. It seems everyone else loved her Momma's BBQ accompaniments as much as she does.
You'll find this delicious food served up at the two locations, both of which have a casual feel, perfect for chowing down on BBQ.
Both locations are fresh and modern and you'll find the same menu items at each spot. So whenever you get that craving for barbecue, it doesn't matter which one you are closest to, just head there immediately.

Momma's spent a lot of time and efforts perfecting their Kansas City-style BBQ, and you can taste the passion in every bite.
The melt-in-your-mouth beef ribs have been rated the 2nd best in the country and are a must-try on the menu. The sliders, pictured above, are a great way to try a few different types of their meats.
The smokey half chicken is another favorite menu item and is packed with plenty of flavor.
A unique find on the menu is the smoked sausage sandwich. The sausage is made in house and is piled on a toasted bun. Served up with two of their tasty sides, and it also makes a wonderful BBQ meal.
Momma's Mustard, Pickles & BBQ is a beloved spot for barbecue in Louisville because a lot of love went into bringing it to Kentucky. And it helps that they serve some of the best BBQ in the state.
The restaurants are open every day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. The next time you feel like trying some excellent, perfectly smoked barbecue, go get some food from Momma's and don't forget to grab plenty of extra napkins.
