I write like it's my job - because it is! I have a Master's in English and love words: crossword puzzles, Scrabble games, Wordle, and, of course, good, old-fashioned books.

Here in Kentucky, we know where to go when we have a craving for a delicious king cake, but what about other Southern specialties? We’re talking about the fare for which Louisiana is famous: crawfish boils, duck gumbo, red beans and rice, seafood Clemenceau... all of the delicious Creole cuisine. Well, guess what? You don’t have to venture down to NOLA for a taste of Louisiana in Kentucky; simply book a table at North of Bourbon.
Craving authentic Louisiana cuisine in Kentucky? We know a place...
...North of Bourbon! Don't let its name fool you; while bourbon is certainly celebrated at this Kentucky restaurant, the menu is straight out of a cafe in Louisiana.
The ambiance and vibe of North of Bourbon is total, old-school New Orleans, too: dim lighting, cozy seating, and jazz music making for a marvelous dining experience.
Next, onto the mains. Muffuletta, but make it Kentucky. Swapping plain, old ham for KY-aged country ham, this classic LA sandwich also has bologna, salami, smoked provolone cheese, olive salad, lettuce, tomato, jalapeño mayo (Duke's, of course!), and local bread.
Craving comfort in a bowl? Order the Seafood Clemenceau, a classic New Orleans dish that appears on many a NOLA menu, like the Dooky Chase Restaurant. In this version, Chef Leah Chase serves it with fresh Louisiana strawberries (when they're in season) to add brightness in both taste and appearance.
Of course, nothing beats a "meat and three" at North of Bourbon. This Southern staple is one of those classic dishes that never goes out of style. One of our favorite combinations is the veal schnitzel served with sautéed Brussels sprouts, potato salad, and pickled vegetables. Holy yum!
Sunday Brunch is also a popular occasion at North of Bourbon, where foodies can feast on NOLA delicacies such as beignets, Andouille sausage, breakfast casserole, and catfish and grits.
When you're craving an authentic taste of Louisiana here in Kentucky, you can certainly pack up the car and head to NOLA... or, you could simply head to North of Bourbon, the most authentic and delicious celebration of LA cuisine in KY!
