Is there anything better than stumbling upon a natural adventure, especially one that involves water on a hot summer day? In Louisa, Kentucky, near the West Virginia border, is the secluded camping spot – Falls Campground. It’s appropriately named because right next to the camping sites you’ll find an epic natural water slide that will make your summer complete.
Nestled in a secluded area of Kentucky, Falls Campground is an ideal spot for a family getaway and adventure. The campground is located right next to a creek that is perfect for summer fun in the water.
Falls Campground has more than 90 sites and has something to keep everyone relaxed or occupied - whichever you choose. You can stroll around the beautiful property, play on one of the playgrounds or join in a game of horseshoes. The grounds also have cabins and an efficiency available to rent.
But the main feature is the creek and shallow falls near the campground. Of course the rocks can be slippery and you should definitely be careful, but this is a great area to cool off and test out your tubing skills down the sloping rock.
The water is shallow enough for wading and if you plan on using it as a slide, you should definitely bring a tube. The water level and force of the falls depend on the weather, but there's usually enough to take advantage of this natural slide.
You can also fish at the campground (with the appropriate license) and if you'd like to get out on the water in a boat, Grayson Lake and Yatesville Lake are nearby.
This peaceful campground is a wonderful spot to escape and enjoy the waning days of summer. You do need to be staying at Falls to take advantage of the creek, so pack your swimsuit, towel and an inner tube and play on this epic natural water slide in Kentucky.
