Many hidden gems in Kentucky are towns. Consider checking out some of these unique towns in Kentucky:
Berea: Located in Madison County, this city is known for its artist community and events and opportunities related to painting, music, and weaving. There is something for history buffs in the 1855 Berea College or the 1909 Boone Tavern. And for outdoor lovers, you’ve got several nearby places to explore, like Anglin Falls.
Paducah: You’ll find this city in McCracken County. It is widely known for its crafts. In fact, “Quilt City USA” is actually a designated UNESCO City of Craft and Folk Art area. Be sure to visit the Quilt Museum as well as the historic downtown district and Lower Town for perusing shops.
Danville: If you want to take in some history of the Bluegrass State, this Boyle County city is the place! Visit places like Constitution Square or try to find all the historical markers throughout the area. There are also several art galleries to explore as well as unique shops and eateries. Double Arch Trail: Located in the 708,000-acre Daniel Boone National Forest in Winchester, this trail is 4.5 miles out and back. You’ll be surrounded by a gorgeous hemlock forest with sandstone cliff views and a grand view of the stunning Courthouse Rock.
Breaks Interstate Park Loop: This 4.7-mile loop trail is located within the 4,800-acre Breaks Interstate Park in both Kentucky and Virginia. As you journey along, you'll be able to take in unique rock formations, stunning vistas, and the Grand Canyon of the South.
Eagle Falls Trail: You’ll find this 1.5-mile trail in the 1,657-acre Cumberland Falls State Resort Park in Corbin. As you might have guessed, this trail takes you out to the 44-foot-high Eagle Falls. While you are in the park, consider some of the other opportunities for hiking, fishing, camping, and more.
Short Creek: You’ll find this spot in eastern Pulaski County. Although privately owned, you may use this area for swimming. Or just to explore and see the clear blue water of this swimming hole.
Kentucky Lake Rock Quarry: Located in Benton, this 16-acre quarry is popular for all sorts of water recreation, from boating to swimming to cliff-diving.
