After what always seems like a never ending winter, we welcome spring in Kentucky with open arms. We happen to think our state is beautiful all year long, but there is something encouraging and even hopeful in the budding of trees and the blossoming of flowers. If you’re ready for a new season in the Bluegrass State, then check out these breathtaking photos that just may prove that spring in Kentucky is the most beautiful time of year.
As much as we love springtime in Kentucky, the incredible horses of our state probably love it even more.
As seen here at the Kentucky Horse Park, the horse farms are filled with playful horses and foals, frolicking in the fields. It's a great time of year to go for a drive through horse country and see them for yourself. You may even consider taking this dreamy road trip.
This photo of Keeneland also proves how Kentucky typically shows off in the spring.
As an arboretum, this property is filled with flowering trees and also offers scenic and secluded hiking trails. If you can't make it there, enjoy its beauty from this serene photo.
Found along Forest Service Road 113 in Land Between the Lakes, this area attracts bees and butterflies, and those looking for a springtime photo op. Another wonderful thing to do in this area, without even leaving your car, can be found in our previous article.
Of course our popular natural attractions are also particularly scenic in the spring as everything changes from brown to green.
Any of our state parks would make ideal places to visit for hiking, camping, and exploring this time of year. The beautiful photo above shows Natural Bridge State Resort Park.
Adjacent to that particular park is Red River Gorge, which is home to many waterfalls that tend to flow beautifully in the spring.
Creation Falls is shown above, but any waterfall trail in Kentucky is a worthy spot to experience this season before it gets too hot and they dry up a bit.
Also don't forget that many of our local businesses are especially beautiful in the spring.
Lavender Hills of Kentucky is a lavender farm that quite literally comes to life in June. You can learn more about it on its website, but also consider a greenhouse, butterfly farm, or other places that offer breathtaking scenery in the spring.
We are lucky in the Bluegrass State that we really do get to enjoy all four seasons. Each one has its own appeal, but there is nothing quite like spring in Kentucky.
