I am somewhat a cliche'. I grew up running around barefoot on a farm in Kentucky.
I love writing, art, sunshine, all animals and my incredibly patient husband, who tolerates my "crazy animal lady" side.
Most Kentuckians are quite proud to live and thrive in the Bluegrass State. It’s beautiful land, border to border, and has an incredible array of wildlife too. There is nothing better than waking up on a warm day, stepping outside, and taking a breath of fresh, country air. The Shawnee name for Kentucky meant, “At the head of the River”, while the Mohawk called it, “Among the Meadows”. Both were grand descriptions of our fertile grounds, and great names to call home.
Here are 10 surefire signs that you belong in Kentucky:

If you enjoy the taste of a finely aged bourbon, Kentucky has warehouses full of delightful flavors, basking in a variety of wooden, usually Oak barrels.
There are 244 native fish in Kentucky, along with around 19 that have been introduced in some way to our ecosystem. The majority of these scaly swimmers are delicious when prepared for a meal.
If you like to hunt your own meats, Kentucky is rich in deer and wild turkey. There are also an abundance of squirrel, rabbit, possum, and other animals if you choose a more unique cuisine.
Though Bourbon is popular; it's not the only special spirit available in Kentucky. If you enjoy craft brews or fine wines, we have a variety of both micro breweries and wineries all across the state. For tasty ale of a different sort, Bluegrass Brewing Company is one of the best. There are also some amazing wineries, like the Jean Farris Winery in Lexington where unique blends create appealing flavors. It's not uncommon to find a few bottles of Kentucky wine or microbrew in every home.
If you appreciate the great outdoors, including camping, or just hanging out in the woods enjoying nature, Kentucky is a great place to live. We have over 50 of the most incredible parks in the US to help people fall in love with nature.
You enjoy a change in seasons about every 3 or so months. Granted some last longer, or are a little shorter than it could be, but the seasons do change. Spring, summer, winter, and fall are all part of the Bluegrass.

This is a fantastic place to live for anyone that enjoys friendly people, beautiful land, and entertaining things to do without spending a bundle.
