Kansas is an amazing state with its ample farmland, colorful views, and diverse culture…so it only makes sense that the Sunflower State would also be home to some amazing bridges! Here are 9 of those amazing structures that you’ll be dying to cross.
1.) Centennial Bridge (Leavenworth)
When it opened in 1955, Centennial was intended to be a toll road, charging motorists $.10 to cross the Missouri River.
2.) Broadway Bridge & 3.) Hannibal Bridge (Kansas City)
The neighboring bridges were opened in 1956 (Broadway) and 1917 (Hannibal.)
4.) Hartford Bridge (Hartford)
Notice the graffiti? Local high school seniors have made it a tradition to spray paint their names and class information on the bridge.
5.) Amelia Earhart Memorial Bridge (Atchison)
Amelia Earhart Memorial was built to replace an existing bridge that was too small for the area's growing needs.
6.) The Rainbow Bridge (Baxter Springs)
This Kansas landmark was built in 1923 to help motorists cross Brush Creek.
7.) Armour-Swift-Burlington (ASB) Bridge (Kansas City)
OK, so *techinically* it is on the Missouri side, but we thought ASB was still worth noting because of its distinct design.
8.) Onion Creek Bridge (Coffeyville)
Onion Creek is only one of two bridges in the state with vertical end posts.
9.) Keeper of the Plains Bridge (Wichita)
The stunning pedestrian bridge allows visitors to cross the Arkansas River with ease!
