In terms of technology and advancement, Kansas is at the top of its game. While it is fun and exciting to see big companies in Wichita and the KCK area pioneering the future, we can’t help but sometimes long for a simpler time and a slower pace. Luckily for us, Kansas is home to this Reno County community that may lack in technological advancements, but not in charm, great food, or friendly folks:

Founded in the late 1800s as a central point for the surrounding Amish communities, the town of Yoder is located just southeast of Hutchinson and is home to only a few hundred residents.

While Yoder has welcomed several new businesses and community members over the years, the size of the town has remained the same and eagerly welcomes guests from near and far to "take a step back in time and enjoy the Amish settlement."

The official community website goes on to say that "the town is a quaint mixture of the past and present, as horse buggies are intermingled with cars and trucks."

If you are looking to treat your family to some good, old-fashioned fun, make plans to attend Yoder Heritage Day, which takes place on the 4th Saturday in August and features horseback drag racing, kids peddle pull, and other unique events.

Today the community is considered to be the largest Amish settlement in the state and residents are considered to be the most technologically advanced in terms of farm equipment and businesses.
