Springtime in Kansas is such a magical season, isn’t it? From our family-friendly festivals to the verdant greenery that surrounds us, spring brings new life and new beauty to the Sunflower State. There are plenty of great spring activities to enjoy in Kansas, but one of my favorites is hiking. The warmer weather makes it a great time to be outdoors, and there are so many great species of flowers that often bloom along trails. You also have a greater chance of glimpsing wildlife as critters become more active after winter’s thaw. There are some fantastic spring trails in Kansas that are worthy of a visit, but one of our favorites is the Elk River Hiking Trail in Elk City State Park, just west of Independence.
