1. Big Brutus, West Mineral

2. Brown V. Board of Education National Historic Site, Topeka

3. Monument Rocks, Gove County
The photos of these 70-feet-tall chalk formations don't do them justice. They're enormous in person and really awe-inspiring. Find them 25 miles south of Oakley.
4. Allen-Lambe House, Wichita
The last of Frank Lloyd Wright's Prairie Houses, the Allen-Lambe House, is a beautiful example of these classic homes. It was ultra-modern for its day, too. Built in 1915, it featured a central vacuum system, alarm system and fireplace with gas logs. (255 N. Roosevelt Street, Wichita)
5. Fort Riley
Fort Riley is an active U.S. Army installation, but you really need to visit it for its museums and memorials. This place really captures Kansas' Old West history. See George Custer's house, visit the Calvary Museum. Located between Manhattan and Junction City.
6. Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve, Near Strong City
One of the last places in the country to see tallgrass prairie, this preserve covers nearly 11,000 acres. Take a hike on one of five trails, and see the bison herd. Find the preserve just north of Strong City.
7. Coronado Heights, Near Linsborg
Spanish explorer Francisco Vasquez de Coronado once visited this part of Kansas, and in 1936, this shelter was built at the top of the hill in the Spanish style. Hike up to catch some killer views of the valley below. Find it just northwest of Lindsborg.
8. Old Cowtown Museum, Wichita
Do you ever wonder what Kansas was like in the 1800s? This museum captures the feel of Kansas between 1865 and 1880. Visit a residential street, commerical distric and family farm. (1865 W. Museum Blvd., Wichita)
9. The Big Well, Greensburg
One of the world's largest hand-dug well is right here in Kansas! The Big Well was built to supply water to the railroads. It's 109 feet deep with a diameter of 32 feet. Get an up-close look when you visit. (315 S. Sycamore Street, Greensburg)
