Located within the heart of Kansas is the small but friendly town of Fall River, which may only boast a population of 162, but still features a number of area attractions worth checking out. That being said, cancel any plans you have this weekend so you can visit this tiny town and mouthwatering destination restaurant. Here is why…
Named for its proximity to the nearby Fall River, this small town was founded in 1879 and is located in the southeast county of Greenwood. What should you plan to do when you visit? Well, for starters:
Upon your arrival to Fall River, you are going to want to check out the little-known but stunning Fall River State Park, which features the cascading 2,450-acre Fall River.
(It should come as no surprise that - like the town itself - Fall River State Park was named for the river.)
When you visit, make plans to hike one of the six diverse hiking trails, fly fish in either the river or lake, or even set up camp in one of the designated areas.
Now that you have worked up an appetite, it's time for a late lunch/early dinner at what is quite possibly the most unique restaurant in all of Kansas: the Tri-Corner Restaurant, Bait & Convenience Store.
If you only spent the morning at Fall River State Park, we can guarantee there is more to see and do, so before you leave, make sure to head back to partake in more of the area's recreation opportunities (or to even just watch the sunset over the colorful tallgrass prairie)!
