The Tiny Kansas Town That's Quietly Becoming One Of The Best Restaurant Destinations In The Country
It doesn’t have to be full of 20 different restaurants to become a destination, but it definitely is getting there. These restaurants hiding out in this tiny Kansas town are making this town a destination for more than just Christmas spirit. Small towns filled with big flavor are like candy to us, and this one is no different. This tiny town doesn’t have a lot of restaurants yet, but we can’t recommend them enough for what they’ve got cooking.

Starting at Jake and Chet's, you won't find anyplace as friendly in the mornings as this one. If you're here later on, I'd suggest a chicken fried steak to keep you warm and full while you explore or head home. Even if you just need a quick stop across the interstate, I'd recommend this spot hiding out here in WaKeeney.

Another great location more for dinner than early birds is the Western Kansas Saloon & Grill. The building was built almost 100 years ago, but the flavors are as fresh as they were when we were kids. Here, I'd recommend whatever the special is, otherwise the appetizer sampler and a good burger is all you need for a great meal.

Speaking of meat, The Brazen Bull is next up on our favorite restaurants in town. They make absolutely amazing burgers and steaks, which fits the name well. Everything is cooked the way you prefer, and the service is small-town sweet.

Last but not least is Tropical Mexican Restaurant, a slightly spicy stop here in town where Tex-Mex reigns supreme. If the parking lot is full, you know you'll have a great time here. Both food and service are amazing and a great little oasis in the middle of the plains.
Address: WaKeeney, KS 67672
If you didn’t know, WaKeeney is known as the Christmas City of the High Plains. You should check out their decorations this winter!
