Thanks to The Oprah Magazine, we expect plenty of visitors to this beautiful Kansas town in the near future. If you live here in Kansas, make sure to visit soon so you don’t miss out on all the fun! Grab your bucket list and travel plans, and mark down just what Abilene is all about. From the local railroad to the beautiful history in many buildings, this town is something truly special. Let’s go!
Abilene has always been a specific type of historically beautiful, from the Old Abilene Town area to the more recently built areas. Everything is full of architecture and well crafted design, making the town a beautiful spot in Kansas for road trips.
Big attractions to see here are the Great Plains Theatre that was once a church, and the stunning Eisenhower Park & Rose Garden, if you ask Oprah Magazine but they aren't all there is here.
If you're hungry during your visit, Brookville Hotel is a classic restaurant that's been around for ages. For anyone who has a hankering for fried chicken and a table full of homemade sides, this is the best pick in town.
Abilene is also the Greyhound capitol of the world, home to the greyhound hall of fame museum. Though the practice is mostly long gone, we recognize just how hard these dogs worked for our entertainment.
Lebold Mansion and other gorgeous historic homes make the town beautiful at every turn. Whether you're alone or with family, you'll find Abilene well suited to a great mini vacation.
