When you’re on the road, sometimes you want hearty food to keep you full for a long time, but other times, there’s nothing better than a great sandwich. This old deli in Kansas has been around for decades, and they’re serving some of the best sandwiches around. That is, if you’re around southeast Kansas and comparing sandwiches. Let’s check them out!
Welcome to Angelo's Deli and Market, a large part of this tiny town in Kansas. Small town restaurants like these aren't worried about looking fancy, they're all about Kansas service and great tasting food.
This hometown deli has been here since it opened in 1951, and their cult following soon developed because of Angelo Sachetta's secret sandwich sauce. Unfortunately he retired in 1986, and only a select few people are privy to that secret recipe. As he used to say "If I tell you, I'll have to kill you!"
It's not only for sandwiches and deli eats, either. The deli also sells fishing supplies, so if you're headed to a local lake, you can get stocked up here on your way.
Next time you want one of the best sandwiches in Kansas, check out Angelo's, open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays.
You’ll find Angelo’s Deli & Market at 9057 US-160, Columbus, Kansas. Though technically, its in the unincorporated town of Hallowell. Why not make it a day of exploring?
If you’d like to explore southeast Kansas some more, check out this town packed with great food and even better people.
