The Sunflower State is full of great places to go this summer, but this one in particular is positively perfect. This lakeside destination is in Southeast Kansas, around Cherryvale, a town we mentioned recently, but this lake isn’t as scary, by far. Most of all, this place is your one-stop shop for a summer day away from it all.
Big Hill Lake sits just East of Cherryvale, Kansas, where some of Kansas' clearest waters are awaiting your activity. Maybe this will be your new favorite camping location?
If you're the type that likes to lounge on the beach or take a short swim, then there's plenty of scenery to enjoy from the sidelines on one of Kansas' few sand beaches.
And if you're the type to make full use of a summer day or weekend at the lake, you can enjoy fishing, boating, and trails around the lake for both horses and people alike.
Some of the campgrounds are primitive, while others offer electricity and showers. While this means you can camp any style you like, it also makes this a popular place, so you'll want to camp early!
A summer day or weekend is easy to spend when you're somewhere as beautiful as Big Hill Lake. However, the beaches are alcohol-free yet perfect for family fun. Another great addition to your Kansas bucket list, I'd say! (Just don't bring your beer or glass containers.)
