There's A Brand New Park In Kansas And You'll Absolutely Want To Visit

Kansas is home to quite a few odd rocks, including the Mushroom Rock and Rock City. We’re also familiar with Monument Rocks (aka the Chalk Pyramids), but have you heard of “Little Jerusalem” yet? It was discovered by early settlers moving west, and is located in Logan County. It’s been here ever since our giant inland sea left so long ago. However, the landscape is fragile, so we’re still trying to figure out how to open it without destroying it.
Some of the areas are over 100 feet tall, and others contain caves and fossils of giant clams. The Nature Conservancy purchased the land last year, but has yet to figure out exactly what to do in order to preserve its beauty. There’s no set date, but the park will open eventually. So, until it’s opened officially, you probably shouldn’t make any trips there yet. It’s our miniature Dakota Badlands, and we want it to stay beautiful as long as it can.
