With new places opening up every month, and more and more added to your bucket lists for the year, there’s a few highlights we don’t want you to miss out on. These hidden places are usually only familiar with locals and their friends, and they need a little extra love sometimes. They’re worthy of this list, and they’re probably worthy of yours as well! Have you heard of or visited any of these?
1. Alcove Springs
In Blue Rapids, there sits a falls called Alcove Springs. Once a popular stop for people traveling the Oregon Trail, this spot has been used since Native Americans settled the area so long ago. The tiny trickles of water are so, so soothing downstream from the larger falls. It looks great around this time of year when it's raining so often!
2. Bartlett Arboretum
This floral paradise is filled with trees of many types and sizes. The views to be had here are truly one of a kind, I promise.
3. Bourbon Lake Falls from this list of hidden waterfalls.
Bourbon State Fishing Lake in Elsmore is home to this gorgeous show of rushing water, as well as plenty of space to break out your fishing poles.
4. Cedar Cove Feline Conservatory
Cats of all sizes (and a few other animals) find their home here at this exotic conservatory in Louisburg.
5. Cedar Crest Lodge
This lodge in Pleasanton deals in delicious food, and gorgeous views from every angle. The rooms are impeccably decorated, and a stay here isn't going to break the bank, either.
6. C.W. Parker Carousel Museum from this list of hidden gems in Kansas.
This carousel museum in Leavenworth is filled with childhood joys and memories of the carousels we rode as children. It's got carousels from all ages, and artwork everywhere of all your favorite rideable animals.
7. Prairie Lavender Farm
In Bennington, there's a lovely lavender farm that's just waiting to have you for a tour. The smells, sights, and products they make are all worth a day trip out to this town.
8. Lake Scott State Park
Near Scott City, this State park isn't on a lot of travel lists, but it definitely should be. Between the lake, the Taos Pueblo, and Battle Canyon, there's not much else you need to convince you to visit!
9. TimberRidge Adventure Center
If you're the adventure-ey type, you definitely need to check out this adventure center where you can participate in a number of outdoor activities with all your family or friends.
