Born and raised Kansan, Clarisa has lived in both tiny towns and cities during their time here in the Sunflower State. As a busy mother of one crazy kid, two cats, and two geckos, they write whenever there is spare time.
Are your kids begging you to go outside? Maybe not, but I haven’t met a kid yet who doesn’t get excited at the prospect of farm animals and a petting zoo. What’s even more, is this turn-of-the-century style farm in Overland Park is just too cool to pass up. They’ve got everything you need for a successful day of fun-filled learning right here beyond these charming doors. Why not take the trip to find out? They have visitors from all over the U.S. every year! Maybe you should be one of them?
Welcome to the Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead, where kids can see how life used to be on a farm, as well as enjoy other, more modern events.
Many aspects of old farm life are displayed, as well as this realistic schoolhouse , an old fishing pond, pony rides, and buildings/activities that depict a life around 1900.
They have plenty of events during their open season, including Farmstead Fishing, multiple musical events, Mad Science Mondays, and Night of the Living Farm. (Spooky!)
Last of all, there's over 200 animals here to interact with, including birds of prey as well as the standard farm animals. This is my favorite part of the whole trip, mostly because baby goats are adorable! (Kids love feeding them too!)
