There’s a lot of things to do and see in Kansas, whether you’re a lover of nature or prefer to tour museums instead. For those of us who love to stay home, books are a common comfort. If you’re like me and love of books of all kinds, you’ll really enjoy this book festival that’s just calling your name. Come check it out this year!
Every year in Topeka, book lovers of all types gather to celebrate one thing in common: books!
It's been running since 2011, when about 900 people showed up to hear more than 30 authors speak on their experiences. It wasn't much, but it sparked a great even that would carry on for years to come.
They have kids' activities that aren't necessarily book related, and even writing contests. In 2018, they had plenty of guest authors, from children's books to adult fantasy, and activities like live music and meeting Clifford the Big Red Dog.
The festival is held every September, when kids have just started school and are excited for all the stories to be told that year. Plus, it's a great time to shop around for gifts for your book loving friends and colleagues. Or you can be like me, and keep them to yourself to enjoy during cold nights.
